In  today's  world  of  sensitive  electronic  equipment ,  there exists several electrical hazards that  until  recently  went  unnoticed .  In  the  past  electrical  appliances  and  entertainment  devices  such  as  stereos  and   televisions  were  made  up  of  large  components  that  used  household  voltages  and  higher   currents  to  operate . These  components  were  very  tough  and  were  able  to  withstand  the electrical  hazards  that  are  present  in  every  home  and  business  that  uses  electricity .
 
  With  the  advent  of  solid  state  technologies  came smaller ,  more  efficient  and  sensitive  components ,  which  while  being  more  energy   efficient  are  more  susceptible  to  electrical  hazards  produced   by  using  common ,  everyday  appliances  such  as  air-conditioning  units ,  ceiling  fans ,  micro-wave  ovens ,  and  copy  machines .  Any  appliance  that  has  a  motor  or  fan  are  known  as  inductive  loads  and  every  time  they  start  they  create  an  electrical  draw  that  is  a  hazard  to  electronic  components ( notice  how  the  lights  dim  when   your  air  conditioner  or  refrigerator  cycles ) .
